Gift registries are so helpful and so convenient. The couple can register for exactly what they want, and they don’t face the task of returning things that they don’t want, don’t like, or already have. And guests know exactly what the couple wants and can make decisions with ease right from their computers or even an in-store visit. Easy, peasy, as they say.
Recently a bride called me in a total panic the week before her wedding. The couple had registered for gifts, and a friend had mentioned that she saw something at an online registry from a particular store. The problem was… the couple hadn’t registered for anything from this particular vendor. AND, with further investigation, they discovered that the address associated with this registry was NOT theirs! Someone registered for gifts in their name with a different address, so gifts were being diverted there.
SOMEONE HAD HACKED INTO THEIR REGISTRY.
So… a word of caution.
Check your registries regularly.
