It is not the first time that I have received an email like this, but my answer is always the same:
My name is XXXXXX and I have a wedding/party themed dueling piano band that I put together. I’m writing you to see if you’d be interested in working together at all. My hopes are to reach out to some reputable planners/venues etc and offer a commission for any leads that turn into a gig. I’ve done the big wedding band agency thing before and I’m trying my best to do what i can on my own this time around. this is not a scam or me trying to get anything out of anyone, just a legit offer for you to collect some extra money for shopping us to any clients that may ask you about wedding entertainment. Please take a minute to check the website and some of the video. We offer a product that delivers live music at a much more affordable rate and wouldn’t expect you to push a product that you didn’t believe in. Thanks so much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. Number is XXX-XXX-XXXX
And here, yet again, is my reply:
It is our policy not to take commissions, kickbacks, etc. An important part of a planner’s job is to make recommendations, and I do that based on service, expertise, and overall quality. It is NEVER based on who gives me something…
Rant over. Thanks for reading!
