Vendor Meals

I wrote a post last January about vendor meals, but I wanted to give you the take on it from a recent event.

Here’s the scoop:  your wedding professionals work for many hours on your wedding day.  And (surprise?!) they get hungry too.  It is a wonderful kindness, and a generosity from the hosts, if they remember to feed those who have worked so hard all day- and those who continue to work well into the night.

And, as your wedding planner will tell you, your professionals may have to grab a few bites here and there during the evening, but it is both great and important that they have a place to go, hidden from the guests, where they can down a salad or some pasta or grab a cookie and a cold drink. And this does not mean from a display during the cocktail hour!  We are professionals and are not guests.

I am not overstating it when I tell you that it means a lot!

The wedding professionals- musicians, photographers, videographers, wedding planners, and maybe some others- take a moment to sit together and quickly (that’s the operative word!) eat something before returning to work.  And it doesn’t have to be the same meal that the guests are served, and it doesn’t have to be fancy.  It is just a courtesy to those who are working for you!

I will never forget the best comment I have ever heard about vendor meals.  It came from a band member who said, “I have never had a vendor meal before where I didn’t now what fork to use!”

Thanks to all who remember to feed us…
