I am always, always touched at weddings. The emotion is often so palpable, and it is a privilege to watch and participate in the specialness of the day. What hits me most, I think, are the sentimental and meaningful moments. At a recent wedding, the bride carried a prayer book adorned with a few flowers. Lovely. But what really impacted me is that her mother carried this same prayer book on her wedding day. And so did her grandmother. What a beautiful symbol of continuity and family. I am so glad that the bride told me about this family tradition so that this could be shared. It was a privilege to witness this family heirloom in use!
